Recently, we've been selling a lot of anniversary gifts.
Then our own anniversary came around.
Ray and I have been married for ten years now.
So I asked him,
"Where's my anniversary gift?"
"Look at all our customers buying flowers for their wives. What about me?"
He looked at me and said,
"But you don't even like flowers."
To be fair, he wasn't wrong.
When I was younger, I really didn't like receiving flowers.
Fresh flowers were beautiful, but they only lasted a few days.
Then I had to throw them away.
So years ago, I told Ray,
"Don't buy me flowers."
This year I changed my mind.
I told him,
"I like flowers now because it will never die."
Without missing a beat, he replied,
"You have a warehouse with hundreds of them."
"Just pick one."
...
I had absolutely no response.
So now I'm wondering...
Has working in the preserved flower business been lucky or unlucky for me?
On one hand, I never receive flowers as a surprise.
On the other hand...
I technically own a warehouse full of flowers.
Maybe that's close enough.
Out of everything we make, these are still my two favourite anniversary gifts.
