The other day, I was cleaning my office when I found a folder full of my original notes from a year ago, back when I was just starting to build this website.
I sat down and started flipping through them.
Honestly...
They made me laugh.
Was I really that clueless only a year ago?

My original idea wasn't even to build a flower brand.
I wanted to create a general online gift store.
(Yes... we also own a newsagency on the Gold Coast. Don't be surprised. 😂)
My plan was simple.
Take all the gift products from our shop.
Photograph every single one.
Measure every single one.
Write every product description.
Create every product page.
Easy.
...
Until I reached about the 100th product.
At that point, I felt like my soul had officially left my body.
😂
That's when I realised something.
I couldn't build a great website by trying to sell everything.
So I started removing products.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Eventually, all that was left were the preserved flowers.
Instead of putting ten years of gift shop experience into thousands of random products...
I decided to put all of that experience into solving one problem.
Helping people send meaningful flowers to someone they love.
Looking back now...
I'm so glad I changed direction.
Now...
Let's take a look at these masterpieces.

The first photo shows my very first collection map.
As you can see...
I wanted to sell absolutely everything.
The second photo is my list of all the templates I thought I needed to build.
Back then, I didn't even know Shopify had metafields.
I genuinely thought every different layout needed its own template.
Looking at it now...
I have absolutely no idea how I thought I was going to finish all of that.
😂
The third photo is the first version of the website menu.
Actually...
It doesn't look too bad.
Most of the important ideas are already there.
The last photo might be my favourite.
It's a list of YouTube videos I planned to watch.
Back then...
I didn't even know what Google Ads was.
😂
The more I looked through those pages...
The more emotional I became.
Every website starts with a blank page. Mine just happened to have a lot more crossed-out ideas than expected.
Sometimes it's easy to forget how far you've come.
Until you find the notes that remind you where you started.
One year later...
After countless little fixes, endless late nights, and far too many cups of coffee...
This is what my website looks like today.
I think it's finally starting to look like the one I imagined a year ago.
